*50 - 100 MM DEEP OF OUR VERY OWN HIGH QUALITY 40MM graded aggerate  SUB BASE -
*DEPTH DEPENDING ON GROUND CONDITIONS.

Perforation of any existing concrete bases to aid Drainage.

We have seen many contractors miss this part out, not just small company's
but some of the biggest names ! -

Some laying lawn products directly on top of soil or at best some sand ! - please whatever you do - don't do away with a sub-base from your quotes as this vital layer will improve
drainage and allow all year round use by stopping the wet soil from pumping up through the bedding layer in the winter and leaving you with soil/muddy water eventually squirting up right through the lawn itself making it dirty and unusable.

This layer also helps the lawn to 'wash through' to help break down any
Pet Odours - *please be aware of its importance.*

WE USE  50-100 MM OF SUB-BASE (DEEPER IF NEEDED)
 - TO STOP MUD COMING THROUGH & TO HELP
YOUR LAWN TO DRAIN CORRECTLY.

WE USE GRANITE CHIPPINGS NOT SAND for the bedding layer.

(TO STABILISE THE LAWN & REDUCE PET ODOURS)

We have been laying paving for a long time - way before Artificial lawns become popular in the UK, and the same principal SHOULD apply for a long lasting trouble free artificial lawned surface ! T.Stimpson.

HOW DO YOU BUILD A WILD GARDEN OR WILD BORDER & WHY ?

Building wild gardens involves transforming ordinary outdoor spaces into beautiful, vibrant and unique spaces through the careful selection of wild plants and flowers. Wild gardens are characterised by their use of native plant species that thrive naturally in the surrounding area and require minimal maintenance to keep them flourishing.

Let's discuss the steps involved in building wild gardens, their benefits, their challenges, and also how to overcome these challenges:

  • The first step in building wild gardens is to choose the right location. This means finding spaces that receive adequate sunlight, have good drainage, and are not prone to flooding. Once you have identified a suitable location, the soil needs to be prepared. This involves removing any weeds or grasses that may be present, loosening the soil, and adding organic matter such as compost or manure to improve nutrient levels and boost plant growth.

  • The second step in building wild gardens is to select the right plants. It is best to choose native plant species that are adapted to the soil and climate conditions of the local area. Native plants have a higher chance of survival, require less maintenance, and help support local ecosystems by providing critical habitat for native wildlife such as bees, butterflies, and birds. In addition, they are often more resistant to pests and diseases, making them a great choice for gardeners who want to avoid using chemicals.

Benefits of wild gardens are plentiful. They are environmentally conscious and they increase the biodiversity of the surrounding areas. Wild gardens are relatively low maintenance and do not require a lot of attention or upkeep. On a personal level, wild gardens can also offer great sensory experiences. The plethora of colours, sounds, textures, and scents that wild gardens produce animate the senses and enhance the beauty of any outdoor space. Wild gardens have also been linked to positive mental health outcomes as they can help reduce stress and anxiety through their calming and meditative vibes.

One of the major challenges of building wild gardens is that they do not always fit into the traditional mould of what a garden should look like. Wild gardens are often dismissed as overgrown and unkempt. To overcome this, it is important to educate others on the benefits of wild gardens and to showcase their unique qualities. Wild gardens can be designed to fit into any outdoor space while still retaining their natural beauty. By incorporating different colours, textures, and sizes of plants, one can create a wild garden that adds unique personality and style to any property.

In conclusion, building wild gardens is a highly rewarding and offers numerous benefits both environmentally and to the individual gardener. Start by identifying the right location, preparing the soil, selecting the right plants, and remembering to educate others on the unique benefits and characteristics of wild gardens. Overcoming the challenges of building wild gardens takes creativity and an appreciation for nature's beauty. However, the end result is well worth the effort as it produces beautiful, vibrant, and unique spaces that are alive with nature's beauty.
